Thinking About My Mom and Dad
Once again June 17th is Father's Day as well as my Mom's birthday. She would have been 74 years old tomorrow. I will be thinking of my Dad and my Mom. I miss them both so much!! I would have loved for my children to have known them to remember them. I think that's one of the hardest things about them both being gone, my boys will never have known their Grandpa and will probably not remember their Grandma. My Daddy once told me I can't remember his exact words but it went something like this..."I use to be shy but one day I realized everybody has lungs, heart, etc. like me and from that day I no longer was shy." I couldn't believe he had ever been shy because he had so many friends. My Mom and Dad were married in 1950 when he was 19 and my mom was 17. After my Mother passed away we were going through some of her things and found a little pocket calendar that she journaled in. Actually, the only thing she wrote about was my Dad. This of course was before they were married so she was 16 to 17 (1950). She talked about seeing my Dad at the neighbours house and about going out with him. Then one day she wrote that her and my Dad broke up. (We could see the love my Mom still had for my Dad). A couple days later my mom wrote that she took a walk and saw my Dad at the neighbours house and then a day or so after that they are together and my Dad proposes (their wedding day is Nov.12). They had their first child in 1952 and their 6th child in 1962. I will always miss my Dad and my Mom. I love them so much!!!!

Wow Cheryl, you and I think alike! I really feel the same way you do about your parents and your children. What nice reflections of their lives, my parents were married in 1945 and doesnt it seem love was so much sweeter back then? Surely more innocent. Anyway thanks for sharing your thoughts!
